TEACHER’S ASSISTANT

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or 50 college credits, and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows are required.  Experience is preferred.

Hours: (FULL-TIME ONLY) - Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm

The Teaching Assistant is responsible for providing educational instruction to assigned students in a structured classroom environment designed to promote intellectual, emotional and social growth. He/She will assist in developing teaching plans that are appropriate to the ages and populations served, specifically children and adolescents (ages 5-­22 years) with emotional, physical, developmental and/or behavioral needs.

RESIDENTIAL TEACHER

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or 50 college credits, and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows are required.  Experience is preferred.

Hours: (FULL-TIME & PART-TIME) - Weekdays (2:45-11:15pm) & Weekends (7am-3pm &/or 3-11pm)

Provides a home-like environment for each resident (ages 5­-22 years) to support and encourage individual growth, a sense of community and independent living skills. Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team in coordinating and providing services for individuals with acquired brain injuries, autism and other significant neurological disorders. Responsible for teaching students functional living skills, socialization skills, recreational and leisure skills, as well as functional communication skills. These positions involve working in our residences on our campus where our clients live.

All Applicants must:

  • Have a valid U.S. driver’s license (for at  least two years)
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have a minimum of 50 college credits

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
The prescription drug benefit program is included with health insurance. The co-pay for generic drugs is $10 for a one-month supply. The co-pay for name-brand drugs is $20 for a one-month supply.

VISION
A vision benefit is part of medical insurance coverage and provides exam and eyewear once every two years for those over 19 years of age, and an exam and eyewear once a year for those under 19.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
First Call – Jefferson Health System Employee Assistance Program offers counseling services to employees and family members. The program has professional consultants to help define problems and to resolve them. Counseling is available for such needs as marital, financial, legal, and dependency problems. There is no cost to employees.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS
Employees may take advantage of an FSA for tax free medical expenditures and certain dependent-care expenditures through payroll deduction.

CITADEL CREDIT UNION
Member services are available to employees who open accounts to take advantage of multiple banking services.

LIFE INSURANCE/ACCIDENTIAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT
The policy provides a minimum benefit of $30, 000 or 1 times the employee’s annual salary up to $200,000. No cost to the employee.

*Vacation and Holidays for Special Education teachers are defined by the school calendar.
**Unused vacation and sick time will be carried forward to the next year. Vacation time will stop accruing when there are 160 vacation hours in the time off account.

  • Holidays: 7 paid holidays per year (a maximum of 56 hours).
  • Personal Days: One day accrued each Jan. 1 and July 1; total of 2 per year.

Upon completion of three months of employment, employees are eligible for:

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
Melmark reimburses the cost of tuition up to $3,000 per year for college credit courses. Benefit is based on the number of scheduled hours of work per week and length of service. Part-time employees may qualify.

Upon completion of one (1) year of employment, employees are eligible for:

PENSION PLAN - TIAA-CREF
Eligibility Requirements – Completion of twelve consecutive months of employment with Melmark. Contributions are provided when you are employed on the last day of the plan year (December 31) and have completed 1000 hours of service between January 1-December 31.

  • Melmark Retirement
    This plan is a no-cost employee profit-sharing plan in which the Melmark Board of Directors determines the amount of the company contribution each year, if any.
  • Supplemental Retirement Annuity
    In this plan you may elect to set up an account to defer your own money and Melmark will match that money to a maximum of 2% of your salary, based on your compensation and elected contribution. Supplemental retirement savings can be deducted from an employee’s pay. Please note: This is a tax sheltered savings plan and employees may begin making contributions upon hire. The Pension Plan is for retirement benefits only and does not reflect a savings plan.

SHORT TERM DISABILITY
Provides 60% of weekly earnings for up to 26 weeks for absence due to non-work related injury or illness. No cost to employee.

LONG TERM DISABILITY
Provides 60% of earnings after 26-week waiting period for disability not related to work. No cost to employee.
